Week of Feb 3rd.

Sciences:
Study sheet for theme 1 and 2 of module 3 was due today (Thursday!).
Many marks will be added to Power School shortly for our 2nd term.
Keep thinking about your insulated bottle project!

FLA:
This week we will finish reading our novel and complete the reflection activities booklet.  We will then begin brainstorming for our final project!

Math

In Math class this week we reviewed and corrected the home work from the last part of the chapter page 41-42 # 1-8. The start of the week we did a review of the concepts seen in our chapter on Patterns and relations. The students wrote their unit test on Wednesday. We are now starting a entire review and study periods in preparation for the midterm exam that will take place on Tuesday Feb 18. This will involve all the concepts seen since September. Including Chapters 1 ,2 3 and 5. Students are expected to progressively review their notes and work in preparation for the midterm.

Week of January 27

FLA:
This week we will continue reading and engaging in follow up comprehension exercises for our novel (chapters 8-10)

Sciences:
Review exams on Monday (module 1 and 2)
Then we'll move on to our next unit: Heat and temperature.

Math:
This week in math the class completed our chapter on "Patterns and Relations. The students continued to work on identifying relationships in tables. We did work on graphing relations and interpreting graphs. The last part of the chapter was learning how to read and write algebraic equations. There is a homework assignment due for Monday (Feb 3) students are to do pages 41-42 # 1 - 7 from their textbook. Students should also take advantage of this 3 day weekend to study/practice for their upcoming Unit Test which will take place on Wednesday Feb 5 .

Week of Jan 20th

Science:
Unit 2 exam on Monday. Happy studying!
We will shortly begin our Heat and Temperature unit.

FLA:  
This week we will continue with our novel study.  We will read chapter 5, 6 and 7 and engage in reading and comprehension activities and discussions!



Math:
This week in math we looked at algebraic expressions. We learned to identify the variable the numerical coefficient and the constant term. We learned how to evaluate and identify an expression. The class explored relationships in patterns using a term and term number. We also did this with math problems. The students practiced how to identify patterns in value tables and how to find the input and output values in a table. Homework that was done this week was page 18 # 1-6 , page 23 #1 -6 and page 27-28 # 1-5. 

We have reached the mid point in the chapter and next week we will do a review in class of the concepts taken so far. There will be a quiz on Wednesday Jan 22. Students should review these concepts at home this weekend in preparation for the quiz next week.

Week of January 13

Last week we began our novel study:  L'assassin impossible
We pre-taught some vocabulary that is going to turn up often in the novel and we began reading chapters 1 and 2.  This week we will do some work in our comprehension booklets and continue to advance in the reading of this novel. 

Math

This week (Jan 7 - 10, 2020) in math we started a new unit : Patterns and Relations.The class examined patterns in Division. We looked at the rules that help us to identify numbers that are divisible by the numbers 2,3,4,5,6,8 and 9. The homework covered in the textbook this week was pages 8-9 # 1 to 7 pages 12-13 # 1-7 and # 8 -10. Next week we will look at algebraic expressions, relationships and patterns and time permitting start on patterns and relationships in tables. Have a great weekend. ⛄

Sciences:
Mega Résumé due on Jan 27th.
Exam on unit 2 Monday 20th.

Mid year exams are coming! Review both units! No set dates yet but... early Feb.
