Week of Dec 16th.

Sciences:
Study sheet for theme 4 is due Monday.
Study sheet for theme 5 due  Wednesday (Tentative)
Keep working on your Méga Résumé!!! Do not wait to the last minute.

FLA:
This week we will have a chance to practice our skits on Monday and then we will be presenting them in class for the remainder of the week!  Come prepared on Tuesday with any props or costumes that you may need.  There will be no homework over the break, have a happy holiday!

Math: 
This week in math we practiced subtracting with mixed numbers and did a  review of the unit in preparation for the unit test. Class and homework were page 207 # 1 - 6page 208 # 7 -12. Student have for homework due Monday the chapter review page 213 # 1 - 9, which will be helpful for the unit test. The unit test on fractions will be on Tuesday Dec 17. Please review your class notes and look over all four concepts that we reviewed in class. Your text 

book  is a good source to do or redo practice examples of additions and subtractions of fractions.

Week of Dec 9th

Science:
Test on themes 1, 2 and 3 on Thursday!
Study sheet for theme 3 due Thursday Dec 12th.

ELA:
In ELA this week we finished our creation myth recitations, and therefore our Myths and Legends unit. We also began talking about informational texts.  Next week, we will be learning annotation strategies for reading such texts.

Social Studies:
In Social Studies, we have began a research project based on various topics in Canadian history. Next week, students will turn their research into a PowerPoint/Google Slides presentation.

FLA:
On Monday, December 9th, we will have a quiz on possessive pronouns!  Review your notes (pink sheet) and the exercises we complete in class to prepare for this quiz.  For the remainder of the week, you will use what you learned about possessive pronouns to create and present a skit to the class!

Math:
 In math this week, the class explored how to subtract  fractions using models. Using picture models such as rectangles, fraction circles and other geometric shapes to represent fractions. We also studied subtracting fractions with symbols. In the later part of the week the class worked on using symbols to subtract fractions and adding with mixed numbers. The work we did in class and as home work was page 193 # 1- 7 and #8 -12. As well as page 197 # 1-9 and page 202 # 1- 8. 
Next week we will look at subtracting with mixed numbers and a total review of the unit in preparation for the unit test. Have a great weekend! 😊
