Week of Dec 9th

Science:
Test on themes 1, 2 and 3 on Thursday!
Study sheet for theme 3 due Thursday Dec 12th.

ELA:
In ELA this week we finished our creation myth recitations, and therefore our Myths and Legends unit. We also began talking about informational texts.  Next week, we will be learning annotation strategies for reading such texts.

Social Studies:
In Social Studies, we have began a research project based on various topics in Canadian history. Next week, students will turn their research into a PowerPoint/Google Slides presentation.

FLA:
On Monday, December 9th, we will have a quiz on possessive pronouns!  Review your notes (pink sheet) and the exercises we complete in class to prepare for this quiz.  For the remainder of the week, you will use what you learned about possessive pronouns to create and present a skit to the class!

Math:
In math this week, the class explored how to subtract  fractions using models. Using picture models such as rectangles, fraction circles and other geometric shapes to represent fractions. We also studied subtracting fractions with symbols. In the later part of the week the class worked on using symbols to subtract fractions and adding with mixed numbers. The work we did in class and as home work was page 193 # 1- 7 and #8 -12. As well as page 197 # 1-9 and page 202 # 1- 8.
Next week we will look at subtracting with mixed numbers and a total review of the unit in preparation for the unit test. Have a great weekend! 😊
