Week of Nov. 18th

ELA:
This week we did typing and final edits to our Creation Myths. They are due Monday (though they can be printed during class if necessary). Next week, we will have our unit test for our Myths and Legends Unit, with Monday as a day to study. After that, we will begin to prepare our performances for our myths. As requested, here are links to some of the pieces that you don't have your own copies of. Please let me know if you have any questions.

- Dragon Princess Tatsuko
- Whirlwind is a Spirit Dancing

Études Sociales:
This week we viewed and discussed some Canada Heritage Minutes related to important events in Canadian History. Students also wrote journal entries from the point of view of either one of Jacques Cartier's men or one of Donnacona's to explore how a historical conflict can have different perspectives. Next week we will be continuing on our Journey through History with Samuel de Champlain.

Math:
This week in math we continued to to do work on relating fractions, decimals and percents. We also focused on the last part of the unit involving solving percent problems. The class did a complete review of the unit. On Thursday we wrote our fractions, decimal and percent unit test. The work we did in the textbook was Pages 115-116 # 1 - 8, Pages 121 1 - 6 and the unit review handout. Next week we will start a new unit, chapter 5 which is "Operations with Fractions".  Have a great weekend. 😊

Sciences:
All but one "Creature" presentation are done. We are now starting our 2nd unit on plants. Study sheet for theme 1 unit 2 is due Nov. 20th.
Class notes: Module 2

FLA:
This week we will finish our festival projects. They are taking longer than anticipated but they have been worth it as they have been very engaging and interesting so far!  On Tuesday afternoon we will be fortunate enough to watch a French rap performance from a Quebec rap and slam artist from Quebec.  On Monday I will give you a little preview of who he is and introduce you to some of his work in anticipation of his performance.
