Science:
Study sheet for theme 4 is due Thursday Oct. 24.
Don't forget to work on your "Creature" project.

ELA:
We finished editing and writing our final copies of our Maui comparative paragraphs. Thursday, we looked at figurative language (Metaphor, Simile, Personification and Imagery) and explored some Indigenous creation poetry. Next week, we will be creating our own in a similar style and visually representing our work.

FLA:
Your monster projects are due on Tuesday, October 15th!  Please ensure that you have labeled your monster with at least 10 adjectives to describe their appearance.  Then make sure you have a list of 10 sentences written in the present tense to describe their tastes and interests!  Next week we will continue our work with the present tense as well as engage in some reading and listening comprehension activities.  We will have a quiz on the present tense on Thursday, October 17th!

Math:
This week we started the unit on fractions, decimals and percents. We did a brief review of fraction understanding form the previous year. We also look at how to change fractions into decimals. The students explored and practiced how to identify a decimal that is repeating or terminating. We had homework each night this week that assisted the class in understanding on how to change a fraction into a decimal and a decimal into a fraction. Students also explored how to do this without the use of a calculator.( Pages 88-89 # 1 - 5 ) on Monday (Page 89 # 6 -10) on Tuesday and ( page 90 #11-12) on Wednesday. As a class we also learned how to compare and order fractions and decimals. Homework due next Tuesday Oct 15  Page 94 # 1 - # 6.
Have a great, extra long weekend!
